attending

When most of us pay attention to something, it is just enough to register a judgement or make a decision. But there is a deeper way of paying attention to someone. To be fully present to them in an active way…to attend to them. To be with them as fully yourself, fully alive. And to give them your attention without judgement. Attending to someone in this way is a mindfulness practice. It is contemplative prayer with all of your senses engaged.
